"Do you want to trot?" Josh asked. He hopped down from the fence and walked into the center of the ring. If she wanted to trot, he would lead Rocky until she got used to it.

Sure. Shannon said after a moments thought.

Josh held on to Rocky's reins. "Tighten your reins and push your heels way down. Keep your back straight. Turn your toes outward and most of all, hold on tight because Rocky has a really bumpy trot." he said with a laugh. "When you're ready, give him a hard squeeze."

Okay. Shannon said. She shoved her heels down and shortened her reins a bit. She made sure that her toes were out, not foreward, and gave him a hard squeeze.

Rocky began to walk a little faster and when Josh clicked his tongue, the horse began to trot. Josh ran alongside of the horse and rider while holding the horse's reins.

Shannon bounced around in the saddle quite a bit and it wasn't that comfy but she was trotting! She focused on keeping her heels down and sitting up straight, Josh could worry about steering and keeping Rocky going.

Josh smiled. "You're doing great! If it's too bumpy, push your heels down and raise up and down in the saddle with the rhythym of the horse. It'll help." he told her.

Shannon tried posting but was too slow and it didn't feel that good so she just sat to the horses trot. She liked that better for now anyways.

Josh laughed. "It's easier if you practice as you're walking first. Then it's easier to get the hang of it while you're trotting." he said with a smile.

((When I first started riding they didn't let us ride till our fourth lesson, and then we were on a lead rope the whole lessons. I rode there half a year until another stable opened that we liked better, never once did they even touch on posting, diagonals, anything. We never got off the lead rope either. Now I see people that I used to ride with there and they're just doing x's, while I do like 2'6, 2'9. lol))
Shannon smiled. Okay. She said.

((lol! at the stable i rode at, u had to ride for 5 years before they let you jump anything! we trotted in our first lesson with the girl holding the horse. After that we got to trot on our own. we played games and stuff too (simon says and stuff)))
Josh slowed Rocky down. The horse was sweaty. "I think he had a good workout today. Do you know how to dismount?" he asked as he walked the horse into the center of the ring.

((We played a lot of red light, green light at Windamere, the first stable. Then we switched and I didn't need a lead rope any more and I cantered my first lesson. Then we did a lot of flat work but never did jump. Then we switched to where we are and I jump every lesson and we always played games like tag, simon says, command and games like that. Now that we have Robyn we have jumping races, like where we're timed, and they're a lot of fun. lol))
Okay, and I don't know how. Shannon said.

((Lol! you cantered your first lesson!? thats awesome! is a canter bumpy?))
Josh smiled. "It's the opposite of mounting. Hold the reins in your left hand again. Slip your feet out of the stirrups. Swing that leg over and hop down." he instructed.

((Depends on the horse and how they're acting. Teddy's canter is always smooth unless he's bucking. lol. But then some of the ponies have bumpier canters than the horses. Cantering is smoother than the trot normally, unless you're riding Zoomer who has a retarded canter and if you're not in perfect position it's bumpy.))
Shannon dropped her stirrups and dismounted. She landed hard. Owe. She said, it hurt a bit.

((lmao! what about a gallop? bumpy or smooth? it looks really bumpy and uncomfortable))
Josh tried to hold in his laughter. "Nice landing." he said, laughing very hard.
