Kyle kept Lyle at a bit of a distance just so that if Cloud started to flip out Lyle was less likely to get hurt. "Do you wanna go back, maybe ride in the arena or something?" Kyle asked Ava.

Ava nodded. "I want to look her over. Something might be hurting her. She's never been violent like this. She really doesn't want me on her back." Ava said. She dismounted and took the reins over Cloud's head. She ran her stirrups up and loosened the girth. "I'm just going to lead her back. Something isn't right with her." she said.

Kyle stayed on Lyle but kept him at a slower walk so they could walk by Ava and Could. Lyle looked over at Ava and Cloud and by his expression he seemed to be asking, What on earth are they doing? Why isn't Ava on Cloud?.

They weren't too far on the trail so it didn't take them long to get back to the barn. "I'll meet you back in the arena. I have to check Cloud out." she said, leading the mare into the barn. Ava took off Cloud's saddle and bridle and replaced them with a halter and lead rope. She tied Cloud to the cross-ties and ran her hand along all four of Cloud's legs. She tensed a bit, but that was normal for Cloud when you got near her hooves. She felt the mare's face. Cloud just stood still. Ava ran her hand along Cloud's back. When Ava reached the part of her back that the saddle sat on, Cloud tensed up and sjied away. Ava examined the area. There was no cut or bruise or anything. Ava put Cloud in her clean stall and kissed her. She also gave her a carrot and a few mints for being good while she examined her. She then ran back outside to meet Kyle.

"Okay. Take your time." Kyle said. Then he rode Lyle toward the arena and into it. He patted the gelding and they walked around for a little bit and then trotted. They had been going at a nice relaxed sitting trot when Ava came back out. Kyle trotted Lyle over to Ava and stopped him once they were by her. Kyle patted Lyle. "What's wrong with her?" He asked Ava.

Ava shrugged. "I dunno. When I touched her back, where the saddle sits, she shied and got really fidgetty. She seems sore there but there's no cut or bruise or anything. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow. I just wanna make sure it's not a tumour or a blood clot. I don't think it is but you can't be too sure." Ava told him. She hopped up and sat on the fence.

Kyle listened to Ava. "YEah, it's better safe than sorry." he said. "Have you been using that saddle on her for long?" he asked. He knew that one of Jackie's best friends had bought a new saddle for her gelding and then he had become almost unridable. He woud move along incredibly slowly and when asked to move foreward he would bolt or buck snd rear, just about anything he could try he would try. It had ended up that the saddle hadn't fit him perfectly and was hurting his back.

Ava nodded. "I had it custom made for her when we first got her." she said. Ava wanted to get a custom made saddle to be absolutely sure that Cloud was comfortable while Ava trained her. Cloud was a nervous, dangerous horse when they first bought her so Ava didn't want to cause her anymore unescessary stress.

"Okay then, it shouldn't have anything to do with the saddle." Kyle said.

Ava smiled and nodded. "I don't think it's anything too serious. I just hope we can get her fixed up so I can ride her again. She really is a sweet mare, once you don't go near her feet." she said.

Kyle smiled. "Do you show her at all?" He asked. He didn't even really know if Ava showed that much at all.

Ava nodded. "Yup. Not as much as I do Danny or Star though." she said. All the shows Kyle had gone to, Ava was riding either Danny or Star. "I do three-day with her, like I do with Star." she said. With Danny, Ava did hunter and jumper classes.

Kyle listened to her talk. "I thought about doing three day once, but I really suck at Dressage. I don't think Lyle has the patience for it either." He said. He showed mainly jumper but occasionally hunter. He and Lyle prefered the speed and excitment rather than relaxing and looking nice.

"Yeah. Star's amazing at dressage, but Cloud gets pretty impatient and it's hard to make it so that you can't tell that I'm making her do stuff." Ava said, brushing some hair out of her face.

Kyle smiled. "I think it would be hard on Lyle to make little movements to get him to listen. Especially slowing him down, and getting him to bend in the corners." Me said. Lyle liked to go fast and he hated bending in corners. When Kyle made him bend it was obvious that he was making him bend. The way he crossed the inside rein over the horses neck and most often gave a little kick with his inside leg.
