Ava glanced over at Kyle and smiled awkwardly. She grabbed the shampoo bottle and started working it into Star's coat. The mare hadn't had a proper bath since their last show which was quite a while ago. Ava figured this way, there wouldn't be as much gunk to get off of Star's coat come show day.

Kyle smiled back awkwardly. He continued to scrape the water off of Teddy's coat in silence.

AVa rinsed the shampoo off of Star and then grabbed the conditioner. She rubbed it into Star's coat, mane, and tail. She then rinsed it. She took her sweat scraper and began to scrape the water off of the mare.

Kyle continued to get the water out of Teddy's coat. He was almost done but he didn't want to leave without saying anything. He had no idea what to say though.

Once Ava had gotten most of the water off of STar's coat, she grabbed the brush. She started to brush the mare gently. She cleared her throat awkwardly. Her and Kyle hadn't talked since she was introduced to Sarah.

Once Kyle was done getting rid of water he grabbed his hoof pick and picked Teddy's feet. He was careful with Teddy's sore leg. It seemed like he always had to be careful with the gelding's legs. He had gotten them pretty messed up when he was younger and for no reason went lame sometimes. And he was a pro at pretending he was lame so he wouldn't be ridden which was a pain.

Ava grabbed her other brush and began brushing the tangles from Star's flowing mane and tail. The conditioner had loosened up the knots but it was still pretty bad. She had been rolling in the pastures lately so that that really knotted up her mane and tail.

Kyle brushed Teddy's mane and forelock. They were both pretty easy because they were thin and didn't tangle that easilly. Kyle started on Teddy's tail. It was always pretty bad but it was stringy and very tangly from getting wet so it was worse than normal.

Ava brushed Star's forelock. She then tossed her grooming gear back into the box. She picked up the sweat scraper and got the rest of the water off of the mare. She tossed the sweat scraper into the box and grabbed the hoof pick. She picked up Star's back leg and began to clean out her hoof.

Kyle wetted a sponge and cleaned Teddy's face. He had trouble holding Teddy's head down for his forehead and between his ears, the gelding hated having anything other than hands touching his head.

Ava cleaned all of Star's feet. She realized that the horse would have to be shoed before they went to the show. Ava grabbed a sponge and wet it with warm water. She wiped the mare's ears and face. Star's nose and mouth were messy so Ava gently cleaned them with the sponge.

Teddy jerked his head up and Kyle had to fight with him to get it back down. He didn't know why the gelding was such a jerk when water was around, it wasn't like it hurt or anything, it had to feel nice getting the sweat and dirt out of his coat.

Ava smiled and smoothed the fur on Star's face. She grabbed the halter and slid it over her head. She then clipped on the lead. She lead Star out of the wash stall and down the aisle.

Kyle unclipped the cross ties and clipped on Teddy's lead rope. He led him back to his stall and led him in. He took off Teddy's halter and unclipped the lead outside the stall. Then he hung them outside the stall and walked over to Lyle to groom him.

Ava backed Star into her stall. She removed the halter and lead and hung them up. She then walked over to Cloud's stall. She was going to ride her today. The skittish mare hadn't been outside for a ride in a while. Ava was reluctant to take her out because she spooked so easily. It was a really nice day though so she figured that she might as well. She put on the halter and lead rope and then lead Cloud to the corss-ties. She clipped the mare in tightly and grabbed the brush. She began to brush the mare.
