Kyle walked into the stable. Jackie had managed to talk him into riding Teddy. He obviously wasn't looking foreword to it, he liked his gelding a lot better than Teddy who didn't understand the concept of tiring or stopping. Kyle put the gelding's halter on and took him out of his stall. He clipped him to the cross ties and went to get his brushes. After he brushed Teddy, he went to get the horses tack. He put the saddle and martingale on and then went to get some polos. There was a bin full of polos at the bottom of Jackie's locker. He set the polos he didn't want to use on the ground beside him. The poor horse. Pink. Purple. Pink and purple. Why are these on top? Kyle muttered to himself. He took the first two pairs of polos that would suit the gelding. A pair of pale blue and a pair of white polos with red maple leaves on them. He went back to Teddy and put the maple leaf polos on his front legs and the blue ones on his back legs. After Kyle was done putting on the gelding's polos, he went to grab his helmet which he had left in the car. When he came back, Teddy was stomping his feet impatiently. Kyle put on his helmet and the gelding's bridle. Kyle patted Teddy and led him outside. He was planning on jumping the Thoroughbred outside because Jackie hadn't had the courage to yet. She hadn't even ridden him out side all that much. Kyle knew that this would be an interesting ride. The gelding would probably need his first bath this year too. Fun eh? On the way outside, Kyle grabbed his crop. Once they reached the arena, Kyle started to pull the girth tighter. Teddy started to walk foreword. Kyle pulled back on the rein with his free hand. Teddy started to pull and Kyle quickly tightened the girth. Then he jerked on the reins. Don't walk foreword when I'm tightening your girth. I know Jackie let's you get along with it, but I'm not going to. He said to the horse. Kyle started to drop the stirrups to his length but was forced to stop three holes shorter than he would like them. Jackie had gotten new leathers and they were too short. She had them on the second last hole as it was. Kyle and Teddy went back to the barn and Kyle grabbed his saddle. He didn't like to use it on any other horse than Lyle but he would have to. He quickly put it on the geldings back and tightened the girth while Teddy was on the cross ties. Then he led the gelding back outside and mounted. He patted Teddy for not walking foreword and put his feet in the stirrups. He had Teddy walk around for a little while and then asked him to trot. They warmed up without incident and Kyle trotted Teddy up to a jump. Teddy stopped right before the jump for no reason. Then he took off around it. Kyle pulled on the left rein and spun the gelding in circles. Then he trotted up to the jump. Teddy stopped again but didn't run around it. Kyle turned him around and kicked him foreword. Teddy refused again and Kyle gave him a tap with his crop. Teddy jumped the jump and took off bucking. He ran around the arena bucking randomly. Kyle managed to get him to stop and spun him in circles again until the gelding calmed down and wouldn't buck any more. Kyle walked him around the arena a couple of times before attempting the tiny jump again. It was just a two foot vertical, not big at all. Just a warm up jump. Teddy could walk over it if he wanted to, there was no reason to refuse it. This time Teddy broke into a canter and jumped huge over it. Kyle took him at it again and Teddy ran past it. Teddy ran around the arena and when he got near a horse that was now in the arena, he kicked at it. Kyle stopped Teddy and made him stand still. He kicked the gelding while not letting him move foreword. Teddy backed up and shook his head irritably. Did he make contact? Kyle asked after he was done fighting with Teddy. After he spoke, he realized that it was Ava he was talking to, not that it changed anything...

"No. She's okay." said Ava, patting Star. There was a girl standing next to Ava, holding the lead rope of a massive Irish Draught horse. "Audrey, this is Kyle. Kyle, this is Audrey. She's new to the barn. I was showing her around." said Ava. She was glad that she wouldn't have to be alone with Kyle. It was still really awkward. "Nice to meet you Kyle." said the brunette. She patted the draught and smiled.

Okay, that's good. It didn't feel like Teddy hit her but I figured that I'd better make sure. Kyle said. He was glad that he wasn't alone with Ava. It was really awkward still and Kyle hadn't totally moved on yet. It hadn't been that long after all. Nice to meet you Audrey. he said. Teddy started to stomp his feet impatiently but Kyle held him still. He didn't feel like fighting with him again right away, give him a couple of minutes.

"Mind if we ride here? Audrey needs to get Mac used to the new arenas and stuff." Ava said, swinging up into Star's saddle. Audrey smiled and patted her gelding. "I want him to feel more comfortable here. He's always edgy until he learns every step of the stable." she said.

No, I don't mind. Go ahead. Kyle said. If Teddy doesn't smarten up I'm probably going to be done soon, just watch out for his feet if he gets mad. he said, patting the gelding for standing still. He was either going to quit soon or canter/ gallop Teddy around the arena until he got a bit tired then try jumping again. But the gelding didn't understand tired so that might not happen.

"Thanks." replied Audrey. She swung up into the saddle. She looked very tiny sitting on the massive draught's back. She loved big horses though. They made her feel tough and strong. She clucked her tongue and Mac immediately began cantering aorund the ring. They had walked around the whole equestrian centre on a tour so the gelding was pretty warmed up. She cantered him around the ring once and then jumped him over the jump in the center. Ava followed on Star. Star looked very petite and dainty next to Mac, even though she was a pretty average sized mare.

Kyle trotted Teddy up to the small jump again and this time Teddy didn't see it. He stopped and this time Kyle didn't get mad at him because it wasn't just him being an idiot. Kyle trotted him up to it again and Teddy jumped it nicely. Kyle gave him a pat and trotted it the other way nicely. Then he cantered it nicely and they jumped a few more jumps that were out of the way of Audrey and Ava's jumping. Kyle jumped off and raised the jumps to an average of three feet. Teddy could jump them and they were still little for Kyle so there shouldn't be much trouble. Teddy stopped at the first one and stared at it. Teddy, it's only three inches higher than you normally jump. You're going to be jumping this soon all the time. Kyle said, turning Teddy around and cantering up to the jump again. This time they didn't have enough speed and it was a really crappy jump. The went back and jumped it nicely, then they moved on to a 2'9 oxer which Teddy didn't have a problem with. They reached a 3' oxer and Teddy got a horrible distance. He managed to get over it, but Kyle turned him back to try it again. This time Teddy clipped the jump with his back feet and somehow the standard came crashing down along with the pole. Teddy freaked out and bolted. Kyle leaned back and pulled Teddy back to a walk, but it was a very uneasy walk, Teddy totally tense and ready to spook at anything he could.

"Is he okay?" called Ava. She halted Star and jumped from the saddle. She walked calmly over to Teddy and Kyle. Audrey grabbed Star's reins and halted Mac. She pulled the horses to the side of the arena and had them stand quietly.

Kyle jumped off of Teddy and checked his legs. One was pretty warm and would start swelling a bit soon. Yeah, I'm just going to run some cold water over his leg and he'll be fine. At the most he'll be lame for a couple of days. Kyle said, patting Teddy.

Ava patted Teddy. She ran her hand along his legs. She knew a lot about animals and wanted to become a veterinarian. "Yeah. I think you should take him in. Its starting to swell already. Take his saddle off before you try to lead him. He doesn't need any extra pressure on it." she said. She patted the gelding once more.

Kyle ran up his stirrups and took off the girth. He threw the girth over the saddle and held the saddle on his left arm, the reins in his right arm. He hoped that Teddy wouldn't pull too much, he didn't have the best grip on him and he didn't feel like dropping his saddle. He led Teddy into the barn and stopped to drop off his saddle and trade the bridle for Teddy's halter and lead shank. He patted Teddy and backed him into the wash stall. The gelding would never walk straight in. It was by far big enough, but the gelding hated water. Kyle turned the hose on only putting on cold water and let it run over Teddy's leg while he patted Teddy.

Ava fixed the jump in the arena and mounted Sar once more. She jumped the mare over the jump over and over again. Audrey followed on Mac. "Why so tense?" Audrey asked. "Tense? I'm not tense." Ava replied. "Yes you are. You like him huh?" Audrey said, teasingly. "No. We were together. Now we're not. It's just awkward." said Ava simply, not wanting to talk about it anymore. Audrey nodded and continued to jump over the oxer.

When Kyle was satisfied that he had gotten Teddy's leg with cold water long enough he hosed the gelding totally off. Teddy stomped his front right foot repeatedly and shied away from the water but he needed the bath. He had gotten really worked up and there was even foam where the saddle had been.

Ava dismounted and led Star inside after she was satisfied with how the horse worked. They were definately ready for their next show. Audrey stayed in the arena to work Mac. Ava lead Star into a wash stall and took off all her tack. She didn't really need to clip the amre in. She was a good girl and didn't mind water if it wasn't in her face. Ava took the hose and started to spray the mare.

Kyle grabbed his sweat scraper and scraped as much water as he could from the gelding. He wasn't going to lead Teddy outside so he wanted to get as much water as he could off. Atleast this way all he had to do was pick out his feet.
