Ted stood in the middle of the round pen while his chestnut Thoroughbred cantered in circles around him. Charlie had been lame for the past little while, Ted's sister's horse had accidentally kicked Charlie while spooking at a squirrel. Ted wanted to make sure that Charlie was absolutely one hundred percent sound before riding him again, so he was just lightly lunging him quite often to keep him in shape. Woah.. Ted said. Charlie slowed into a slow trot, then a walk then a halt. Ted walked over to Charlie and patted him. Then he unclipped the lunge line and re-clipped it to where he wanted it to lead Charlie back to the barn. He clucked and the gelding walked eagerly foreword, with Ted walking on the left side of him. They walked into the barn and about halfway down the aisle they were forced to stop, another horse was clipped to the cross-ties. Charlie nickered at the other horse. Ted didn't see the owner of the other horse around so he waited patiently for whoever it was to come back...
