Shannon shook her head. She really didn't care. She didn't even know what would be on, she didn't watch TV much. She sat down on the couch, leaving space between her and Josh though.

Josh just started to flip through the channels. He turned to her. "You don't watch TV much huh?" he asked with a smile.

Shannon shook her head. I'm not at home much more than I have to be, and when I am I do homework or something in my room so I never really get a chance. She said, hoping he wouldn't ask anything more.

Josh kind of realized that he hit a bad subject with Shannon. "Are things...okay at home Shan? I mean, I hope you don't think I'm rude or nosey for asking you that but...you're always coverred in bruises and you never really talk about your parents..." he said quietly.

Yeah, things are fine. Shannon lied, I just don't particularilly like Dad, so I don't spend much time at home. Just to sleep and do homework really. She said. She knew that it was obvious that she was lieing, she wasn't that good at thinking up lies on the spot.

Josh just looked at Shannon. He knew that she wasn't exactly telling the truth. "Oh. I see." he said. "But...just so you know...if anything does happen, you can tell me." he told her softly.

Shannon knew that Josh knew she wasn't telling the truth. The way he had responded gave it away, and he'd have to be stupid to believe her. K, I'll remember that. Shannon said softly.

Josh looked at his watch. It was already 6:17 and Josh had to set up before he performed plus do sound checks and everything. "We better go." he said.

Okay. Shannon said, standing up. She wondered if they would be out much past nine. What a stupid rule. Totally un-fair, but her dad made her and she didn't like breaking his rules because of the consequences that followed. She got them either way though really, so she didn't really care about the rule, but he was madder when she broke it so she just didn't know what to do.

Josh walked out to his car. He locked his house and then unlocked his car. He got in, buckled his seatbelt, and turned it on.

Josh pulled out of the driveway and drove to the coffee shop. His guitar and all of his sheet music was in the back seat. They quickly reached the coffee place and Josh parked. He got out of the car and opened the back seat. He pulled out his guitar and sheet music before shutting the doors and locking the car once Shannon was out.

Shannon got out of the car once they got there. She walked over to where Josh was and waited to see where he went. She had no idea where to go or what to do.

Josh held his guitar case and music and then walked into the coffee shop. He turned to Shannon. "You can just sit and relax or whatever. I'll just set up, do my sound checks, and then I'll relax with you before I have to perform." he said.

Okay. Shannon said. She found a spot to sit and watched to see what Josh would do. This was all very strange to her.
