Alex didn't say anything, he had hardly even heard what Audrey had said. He was too busy thinking. His mom had always been so great to him, to everyone. She was incredibly nice and smart and generous. Why had she been hit by a car? She didn't deserve it.

Audrey's heart broke for Alex. "Hey. It's going to be okay. Don't worry about it." she told him softly. She rested her hand on top of Alex's hand. "It'll be alright."

Why her? She's never done anything that would make her deserve to get hit by a car. Alex said. It wasn't fair.

"I know. Sometimes these things just kind of happen. It'll be okay. You'll see. And I'm here for you if you need anything." she told him very softly.

How could everything be okay? She had said that it didn't look good for his mom. If she died it would defineltly not be alright. She was his mom.

Audrey gently ran her fingers through Alex's hair. "Alex, I'm so sorry. It's going to be alright though, I know it is." she told him gently. She hated seeing him like this.

"I don't know honey." she said, honestly. Audrey didn't even realize what she was saying. She started to blush beet red when she realized she had called Alex honey.

Alex didn't even really notice. He wasn't paying much attention to minor details like that.

Audrey held Alex's hand. "I can't guarantee that things will be okay. I just really hope and pray that they will be." she told him softly. She was sitting very close to him. She slowly ran her fingers through his hair. She then rested her head on his shoulder. "Alex, I hate seeing you like this." she told him.

"I know you do." Audrey said with a sigh. A nurse walked over to the two of them. "Dr. Kenmore, Dr. Wilhelm. Dr. Wilhelm's mother is in room 1173. They have her on life support. Dr. Wilhelm's father told me to come and get him." said the pretty young nurse. Audrey nodded. "Thanks." she said. "Alex? Do you want me to come with you or do you want to be alone?" she asked gently.

I want to be alone. Alex said. He knew there was no way he was going to be able to keep from crying once he was in there and he didn't want Audrey seeing htat.

Audrey was a little hurt that he didn't want her with him but she understood why he wanted to be alone. "Okay." she told him softly.

Alex stood up and started wakling towards the room. He knew where it was. He did want to be alone with his mom, but at the same time he didn't. He wasn't entirely sure what he wanted.
