Audrey walked out of one of her patient's rooms. She sighed. She was tired and she had been running around all day dealing with everything from broken legs to appendectomies. She knew it was all in a day's work for a doctor, but, it got tiring. She still had two hours left of her shift too... Oh well. At least now she had her break time. She walked over to Cara, who was now showing a little baby bump, and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey. Do you want to go get some coffee or something now?" she asked. Cara nodded and smiled. She then grabbed Greg's arm. "Wanna go for coffee with Audrey?" she asked her fiancee. Greg smiled. "Only if Alex will come with us. I don't want to be stuck with you girls the whole time." he teased. Cara hit Greg playfully on the arm. Audrey smiled and turned to Alex. "Wanna come to Coffee Break with us?" she asked.

I dunno.. I want to see how Greg would turn out having to go for coffee with the two of you, but I do want a coffee.. Alex said, pretending to think about whether or not he wanted to go, Yeah.. I guess I'll go.. he said.

Audrey and Cara both laughed. "Hang on one second. I left my purse in my office. I'll be back." Cara said, leaving to go get her handbag. Audrey leaned against the reception desk and just glanced over at the TV that was located in the waiting area. The news was on. The news was always on it, that way, people didn't really complain about what was on. Suddenly, Audrey heard a very loud noise and saw some smoke billowing through the air, outside of the building. On the TV, the newsanchor got very serious and they immediately cut to some new footage. Audrey just stared at the TV. "Alex, what's going on!?" she asked, rather frantically as people in the waiting room began to whisper among themselves.

Alex had just been looking around the waiting area at all of the people. When he heard the loud noise, he immediately looked at the TV, to see if there was anything about the noise on the news. You know as well as I do. Alex said.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we regret to inform you that there has been a serious explosion at the Stock Exchange building downtown. At the moment, we have very limited information but it is suspected that this was an act of terrorism. Employees of neighbouring buildings are being evacuated. It is unknown the death toll of those people in the Stock Exchange, but it is expected to be very great. Firefighters are on scene and paramedics are on their way." said the woman on the news, fighting back tears. A young pregnant woman in the waiting room bursted into tears. "Daniel works there!" she sobbed. She was then comforted by what looked like her mother. A few children began questioning their mother and father about what was going on. One elderly woman got up and left the hospital in tears. "Oh my God..." Audrey murmured, immediately turning and wrapping her arms around Alex. Greg ran out of the waiting area to go and tell Cara what had happened.

Alex didn't say anything, but he hugged Audrey. He couldn't believe it. Normally this was such a boring town, but now a building had been blown up. So many people were already upset, and they didn't even know who all was dead yet.

Audrey just hugged Alex. She wasn't crying or anything. She was just upset. She stayed cuddled with Alex for a few moments and then moved away, but she still stood very close to him. Cara and Greg walked into the waiting area. "Oh my God... Have they said what caused it yet?" Cara questioned. Greg shook his head and held Cara's hand. "They don't know yet. They think it's terrorism but they're not sure yet." he said. Cara squeezed his hand tightly as paramedics began rushing through the hospital to get to the ambulances so that they could go deal with the situation. Mr. Cranely walked into the waiting area. "Alright everyone. People are going to need immediate care on the spot and our paramedics won't be able to handle it alone. We need most of you to stay, but we need some volunteers to go to the scene. People's lives are in jeopardy here. Who's willing to go?" he asked.

Alex listened to and watched everything that was happening in the hospital. He listened to Mr. Cranely ask who was willing to go, and he quickly decided that he wanted to go. He wanted to save people. I'll go. he said.

Audrey was shocked. She just looked at Alex. She knew it was the right thing to do but she was just so scared of losing him. She didn't want him to go. It was still dangerous. Nobody knew what was going on, nobody knew if there would be another attack. It was like 9/11 all over again. She didn't want her Alex to go. Greg nodded as Alex volunteered. "I'll go too." he said. Cara immediately threw her arms around him and kissed him. "Please be careful honey..." she practically begged as her eyes filled up with tears. Greg nodded and kissed her again. "I'll be fine sweetheart. I love you." he told her. "Love you too." Cara replied. They kissed and hugged some more before finally breaking apart. Cara looked really upset. A few more people volunteered to go help. Audrey looked at Alex. Her hands started shaking. She was really scared. "Alex... Please be careful... Please..." she begged.

I will, I'll be fine. Alex promised. It was obvious that Audrey was really scared, and Alex was a bit too, but he figured that he'd be fine.

Audrey nodded silently but it was very obvious how nervous she was. She wrapped her arms around herself and just stood there, staring at the ground. She was so scared.

Alex wished that Audrey didn't look so nervous. It didn't make him feel good at all.

Greg sighed and kissed Cara again. "Alex. Let's go..." he said softly. He knew that Audrey wasn't happy with this whole thing so he wanted to give Alex a little time to say goodbye to her, even though they'd be back. They'd be fine.

Okay. Alex said. He wanted to get away from Audrey before he ended up changing his mind.

Greg walked with Alex and the others into the parking lot. They got into an ambulance and drove to the scene.
Audrey sighed very deeply as Alex left. Cara looked over at her. "Audrey... Sweetie, are you alright?" she asked very softly. Audrey nodded and took a deep breath. "I'm fine. Come on. We don't have time to stand around and talk. People are dying and we need to get everything ready because, more likely than not, we're going to have to perform emergency surgeries." she said, very proffessionally. That was just like Audrey. Burying herself in her work when she got scared.
